Why do the networks focus on bad news? Sure, because that's what the people want, but why? Not me, I hate bad news, but I rarely get the good kind. Give me some good news, like "Hey, you won the lottery!" or "Scientists discover a new fajita that makes you lose weight, cures old age and stops global warming!" I could use some news like that.

Early Birds, Watch the Launch of Discovery Next Tuesday

Saturday, August 22, 2009

NASA had to scrub the STS-128 launch due to a problem with a fill and drain valve on Discovery, and will be delayed once again in getting C.J. Sturckow and his crew in orbit. While disappointing, this happens in this chosen profession, and NASA will be getting this problem resolved and launch STS-128 when all is ready. To view the launch of Space Shuttle Discovery and the STS-128 crew of seven astronauts, tune in to NASA TV or view it on the Web at http://www.nasa.gov/ntv Commander Rick Sturckow will lead the STS-128 mission to the International Space Station aboard Discovery, with Kevin Ford serving as pilot. Also on deck are mission specialists Patrick Forrester, José Hernández, John "Danny" Olivas, Christer Fuglesang and Nicole Stott. Stott will remain on the station as an Expedition 20 flight engineer, replacing Timothy Kopra, who will return home aboard Discovery as a mission specialist. Discovery is carrying the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module containing life support racks and science racks. The Lightweight Multi-Purpose Experiment Support Structure Carrier will also be launched in the payload bay. This is Discovery's 37th mission to space and the 30th mission of a space shuttle dedicated to the assembly and maintenance of the station.
